First Day of Spring 2021

Posted on Mar 19, 2021

Happy First Day of Spring!

We made it.  We survived another winter season.  And with that, our thoughts will quickly turn to what is in store for us this coming camping season.  Fun fact; In only 9 short weeks, it will be the Victoria Day Weekend, and everyone knows that is the unofficial start of summer! At Leisure Time we get an early start on the season, I'm sure many of you are counting the days.

So what are you going to do to get ready for it?  First off, just dream!  Plan all the things you want to see and do.  Don’t forget the new things you want to challenge yourself to try.

However, make sure that you don’t forget to plan for the work your RV will need to make sure it is ready for your next round of memory making.

While it is only the beginning of spring, and therefore maybe early to do some of these things, it is NEVER too early to plan, and budget, for your RV’s spring maintenance.

Here are some things you can and should do before taking your camper out on the road:

  • Check your water system - flush the water lines and hot water tank. RV drinking water hoses should be cleaned each spring or replaced.

  • Lubrication - Lubricate any pinch and hinge points.  Be sure to use the proper lubricant for your RV or you will make more work for yourself in the future.  Don't forget to treat & protect the rubber seals on your slide outs

  • Testing - Test the your carbon monoxide, LP Gas Leak, and Smoke detectors in your RV to ensure your safety

  • Inspection - do a walk around of the entire unit, including the roof.  Check all the doors and storage areas to make sure the seals are still intact.  Be sure to check all windows and seals for signs of damage.  This is a good time to check tire pressure and inflate your tires if necessary (Pro Tip: after sitting all winter, it WILL be necessary)

  • Clean - Do a top down clean. Start with the roof and make sure to remove all debris.  Then move on to the outside walls.  And finally, inside.

Your RV will only be as good as how you maintain it.  If looked after, it can and will provide you with memories that can last a lifetime.  The least you can do is make sure you keep it in the best shape it can be. Leisure Time’s service department is a fully equipped service facility, and is here for any spring maintenance you may need.  We are located in Peel Region, so we are still in the Grey Zone, plese call us at 1-888-280-0018 or send us an email.
