Fall Camping at Point Farms Provincial Park

Posted on Oct 15, 2020

For quite a few years now we have wrapped up the camping season with a few days at Point Farms Provincial Park.  This excellent park is just north of Goderich Ontario, billed as "Ontario's Prettiest Town", on the shore of Lake Huron.
The campsites are well spaced with plenty of foliage to create a sense of privacy and many large campsites.  Our friends bring a 34 foot trailer and there are lots of sites that accomodate their rig with no problems.
One of the things that we like is that the park is located an equal distance for a lot of our camping friends.  One of us will usually book a site and then email the rest of the gang who then go ahead and book sites in the same area.  This of course needs to be done near the beginning of the year because like most Provincial Parks, the sites on weekends fill up fast.
We enjoy hiking the trails, visiting the beach and the Saturday Market in downtown Goderich.  We do barbeques and campfires and catch up on each others summer adventures.
As you can see from the photos, Fall camping can get a little chilly and we certainly appreciated camp fires and cozy travel trailers at night!  Some of us travel with our pets and the park is great for that.  Remember to keep your cat on a leash when walking around the park.
Lake Huron is known for spectacular sunsets and that is certainly the case at Point Farms.  Find a spot in the campground where you can see past the tree line or get down to the beach and have a toast to the parting sun.

We usually have a mix of RV's when we get together ranging from vintage Airstreams to brand new box style trailers and everyone contributes to meals and happy hours.  We have found it is a great park to have these "reunions" once or twice a year.

Point Farms has an excellent comfort station and a modern clean playground next to it.  This season because of Covid 19 the showers were closed but the washrooms were open and spotless.  Like most Provincial Parks, Point Farms has 30 amp electric as the only connection, so come with full fresh water tanks and empty waste tanks.  There is a clean, two lane dump station at your disposal as well.  This park has become one of our favourite places to relax and wind down with friends and the surrounding area is beautiful and full of interesting trails, museums, restaurants, antique stores and art galleries.  We will certainly continue to return here for years to come.
